Holiday Food Drive Sponsored by St Margaret’s

Every year St. Margaret’s, located here in town, has a Holiday Food Drive for us.  They put out the request for non-perishable food items and their perishers come through every year. The amount we collect from this one drive is HUGE!

The process of collecting it is also Huge. Before we can put it on the floor of the pantry for our clients we have to sort it, date-check it and move it to our temporary storage facility.

As I mentioned it is a huge effort so in the past our only goal has been to recruit enough volunteers to transfer the food to storage. We have evolved!

This past Tuesday, with the help of at least 20 volunteers, we were able to sort, date-check, bin and transport the food to storage in less than 2 hours.

We would like to thank all of our volunteers who helped yesterday. You are Amazing!!  The adage “Many Hands Make Light Work” really is true!

We have great people (volunteers) who are totally dedicated to volunteerism and helping their fellow neighbors.

FYI, an educated guess is that we processed over 300 bags of food at approximately 10 lbs each. So do the math. Did I mention this drive is HUGE?

Thank-you St Margaret’s and thank-you to all of our volunteers who give of their time.

Unselfish and noble actions are the most radiant pages in the biography of souls.”
