MCS Food Pantry Report for October 26, 2011

MCS Food Pantry continues to receive tremendous support from Madison residents. Thank you to Carol Sinclair, Debbie & Bill Friedman, North Madison Congregational Church, Althea Higgins, Madison House Rehab, N2N, Stop & Shop, Cumberland Farms, Robert’s, Cohen’s Bagels, Subway and residents’ donations delivered by Paul Beckman of Raveis Realty.

A special thanks to Madison Alliance for Senior Tax Relief (MASTR) for their large donation of food this week (over 1,100 lbs of food). It certainly takes “a village” and Madison residents continue to contribute to the success of the Food Pantry.

This week there were a total of 86 clients (10 Home bound). Total amount of food distributed 2,479 lbs. Total amount of food donated 4,276 lbs. Total amount of food purchased by MCS 1,004 lbs.

For the month of October MCS Food Pantry distributed 10,124 lbs. of food to an average of 89 clients per week. This equates to 7,656 meals for the month.

MCS would like to recognize Heather Pellatt and Mary Hake. We call these women the “pantry purveyors”. Heather and Mary are Food Pantry Supervisors. Every Tuesday morning Heather and Mary arrive at the pantry to assess what food needs to be replaced for the clients. They load bins of food from the storage area, weigh the food, record the weights and place the bins in the pantry area. This food will be stocked later in the day.

Heather and Mary are an integral part of the MCS Food Pantry. We thank them for their dedication and commitment to the Food Pantry and the residents of Madison. Heather and Mary are just 2 of the reasons why the Food Pantry runs so effectively. Thank you.
